Holmepride – Community in Action
We are a community group that provides an opportunity for all Holme Valley residents to get involved in group activities to help improve where they live, whether its litter picking around local street, parks or places they take walks for exercise etc. We welcome all, with no discrimination re race, colour, religion, age or ability. Our projects are very varied to cater to a broad range of personal interests throughout the year. Gardening in parks, churches and community open spaces, painting of railings, litter bins, lamp posts and street furniture. We respond to requests from the local population asking for specific help or who highlight a particular issue that has come to their notice.
Friends of Greenhead Park
We are an independent voluntary group that works in partnership with Kirklees Council and others to ensure that our park is safe, attractive and well-used. The group aims to: – encourage everyone, young and old, to use, value and look after the park – provide a recognised channel through which users of the park are involved in decisions made about the park – work for practical improvements to the park to ensure that it is a safe place with appropriate amenities
Burton Environment Group
BEG works in the villages of Kirkburton and Highburton and has two main objectives, firstly to improve the physical environment in its major sites listed below and secondly to improve bio-diversity in this area through the addition of native trees and plants.
Red House Yorkshire Heritage Trust
Red House Yorkshire Heritage Trust is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation Registered Charity N. 1193941. We are working towards delivering education and heritage for the Red House site (former museum), 281 Oxford Road, Gomersal, West Yorkshire BD19 4JP. We are working with Kirklees Museums and Galleries service for the benefit of the local and wider community. The heritage covers the history of Mary Taylor and the Taylor family, connections with Charlotte Bronte and her book 'Shirley', Luddite history and textile manufacturing history. We hope to work on the award winning garden and bring it back to use.
Friends of Dean Wood
To conserve Dean Wood, its flora and fauna and wildlife habitats as a community resource and promote its use by local people as a place for quiet enjoyment and study of the countryside. To plan, organise and carry out practical conservation works and such other activities as the Group sees fit to promote its aim. Raise money and other support for its activities in support of its aim.
Birkenshaw Village in Bloom
Our main objective is to keep Birkenshaw looking welcoming and attractive. We aim to do appropriate weeding and planting of open spaces and we pick litter around these areas every week. We are also keen to lower CO2 emissions and promote carbon capture

To preserve and improve the village of East Bierley. To maintain the green belt area around the village ensuring the continuance of the village identity, To create and maintain a representative committee of villagers to uphold 1 and 2.
Made In Clayton West
Made in Clayton West: The aims of the group are to connect people and play our part in helping to make our village & local area a better place to rest, work and play. We aim to connect people in our community by coming together, sharing skills, using talents, being creative, building connections and making a difference. We have an active facebook page and support the running of various events in the community including an annual yard sale and autumn 'Light up the Woods' event.
