A volunteer group who are dedicated to assuring river water quality and the protection and enhancement of riverine habitats. One activity is testing for pollution incidents by sampling the invertebrate population of vulnerable sites on a regular basis. We place great importance on the education and engagement of the next generation of “River Guardians” by hosting fun activities.

Urban Tree Huggers

We involve local communities in Tree planting and improve the local environment while encouraging people to take responsibility for climate change. To work with children in schools educating young people about the current climate crisis. We are currently starting a project to plant 100 miles of hedgerow.

The Hade Edge Residents Association fundraises for the village with a Gala and other events/activities. We also look after the village planters and the Village "Green", on the triangle opposite the Bowshaw Pub in Hade Edge.

A group bringing together local residents and users of our woods to protect and improve the woodland in the Longley area, including Longley Wood Nature Reserve, Oakenbank, Ashenhurst, Martin Bank Woods, New Laith Scrog and Penny Spring Woods.

We are a group of volunteers, supported by Denby Dale Parish Council's Countryside Officer, who aim to promote walking throughout the Denby Dale Ward. We are affiliated to national Walkers are Welcome body.

Marsden Walkers are Welcome

To develop Marsden as a "Walkers are Welcome" town, and to encourage recreational walking in the Marsden area, for the public benefit of local people and visitors. To be responsible for ensuring that Marsden continues to meet the criteria established nationally for "Walkers are Welcome" status. To work to improve facilities for walkers, including maintenance and improvement of existing footpaths and bridleways, and the creation of new routes. To promote an annual walking calendar/festival. To act in partnership with the community, business, relevant groups, and local authorities to achieve these aims.
