Scisset Community Garden Project


1000 sq. metre plot of the church was an overgrown patch of ground in the middle of the village. Now on its way to being a community garden and most of the tree work completed, main central hedge laid, brambles and nettles progressively being cleared. One plot is ready for growing vegetables, fruit and two rustic benches in situ. The objective is to provide a space for the people of Scisset to enjoy and share in the pleasure of the garden and gardening.


  • An opportunity for school children (3 schools & Nurseries nearby), parents, staff and the local community to learn the pleasure of gardening – sowing, growing, tending and caring.
  • For others, sitting on the special benches and wandering around the area will be beneficial to their mental health. Garden will always be open. Practical tasks will improve physical health.


Covid19 prevented visits by the trustees during the following seasons.
