VE Day 80

The VE Day 80 event on Cliff Recreation Ground, above Holmfirth, is part of the national and international commemoration of the eightieth anniversary of VE Day. The format of the event is the same as similar events over the last century, with a brass band and the lighting of the Jubilee Beacon. Music will be provided by Hade Edge Band and refreshments by the Ist Holme Valley Scouts. There will be speeches from honoured guests and the reading of the Tribute by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire.
Visitors are advised to wrap up warmly, as Cliff Rec is rather exposed and can be chilly, even on a Spring evening! Suitable footwear is also needed, as the ground is rough.
This is a free event and all are very welcome.
