S2R – The Great Outdoors Project (Support to Recovery)
The Great Outdoors Project offers adults in Kirklees the chance to take their first steps into nature on our taster courses; to explore their relationship with the outdoors on mindful walks and through the direct experience of open spaces; to interact and contribute on practical tasks at our Community Allotment; to express themselves creatively using eco-crafts, natural art, and photography and to be active and enjoy themselves by walking and running in the biggest gym possible.

Supporting the health and well-being of parents and children in the kirklees area with guided walks and meditations that encourage learning about our environment, suitable from newborn

Grow to School
Grow to School CIC (GtS) exists to give children & families greater access to the outdoors for learning and discovery. We work with schools and their communities to help: • put them in touch with where food comes from through growing, cooking and eating it. • them understand, engage with and care for the natural environment. • support schools to take learning outside the classroom and create meaningful experiences. We support access to the outdoors, nature and the environment for health, wellbeing, and environmental connectedness. We believe that making use of existing school environments and creating spaces for growing & engagement provide vital and important experience.
Environmental Projects in Kirklees (EPIKS)
EPIKs delivers environmental projects so that people can get better access to green spaces on their doorstep, engage in active travel and take action for the local environment. We have regular outdoor volunteer work parties and work in partnership with community groups and businesses. This helps us to get the best local knowledge and impact from our projects.
Urban Tree Huggers
We involve local communities in Tree planting and improve the local environment while encouraging people to take responsibility for climate change. To work with children in schools educating young people about the current climate crisis. We are currently starting a project to plant 100 miles of hedgerow.
Ride Kirklees
We are a group of mountain bikers who look after bridleways and official bike tracks to maintain them.
Kirklees Badger Protection Group
We are a dedicated group of volunteers who monitor and protect historical badger setts within the Kirklees area of West Yorkshire. We encourage understanding, tolerance, appreciation, and respect for badgers. Provide education and information to the wider community.
Kirklees Bridleways Group
Our aim is to safeguard all historic routes by getting them recorded for public use therefore ensuring that they are safe for future generations. IF they are not formally recorded accurately as bridleways, footpaths & byways on the Definitive Map.
