7 IMMERSION

Come to the woods, for here is rest. There is no repose like that of the deep green woods

Stop at the large tree trunk which has fallen diagonally across the stream.

Sit down, even lie on the tree trunk and look up.

A canopy of trees, a web of branches overhead.

Notice the shapes of the trees, branches and leaves. What movement can you see?

In Japan they have a term ‘shirin-yoku’, meaning ‘forest bathing’.

Soak up the sights, the sounds, the smells of the woods.

Immerse yourself in it.

Continue along the path as it heads back up hill, cross the stream by the stone slab and head back up to the pond.
