Almondbury Action

Almondbury Action is a voluntary group which was set up in March 2019. Our aim is to engage with local people in environmental clean-up projects for the benefit of wildlife and the community and promote pride in Almondbury Village and surrounding areas. We also support and work in partnership with other Almondbury Community Groups. We undertake regular litter picks and clean ups, have raised money for a village defibrillator and maintain village planters.
Almondbury Bank Woodland Preservation Group
Location: Huddersfield South (Almondbury, Crosland Moor & Netherton, Dalton & Newsome)

We maintain under Kirklees Licence the afore mentioned woodland area. Maintain pathways and steps. Litter pick along the roadside wooded areas, and in general leave the woodland tidy and a natural pleasure to walk through with or without a dog.
Batley Cemetery Support Group

Working closely with KMC to continue the care,upkeep and preservation of Batley Cemetery.Encourage the development of the Cemetery as a place of historical interest.
Batley Community Alliance Gardening Group
Location: Batley (Batley East, Batley West)

The group meets primarily on Friday mornings, 09.30-12.00, in the town centre. Activities include maintenance (tidying, planting, weeding) on Upper Commercial Street borders and the planters in the market place and on Commercial Street. There is also a Community Garden, accessible to all, in the Memorial Gardens adjacent to the swimming baths which is tended by the group.
Birkby Community Wildlife Garden

To provide and maintain a small area of urban woodland with aims to include the conservation and promotion of wildlife; in doing so, to provide a resource for the local people (adults, young people, families) to come to, somewhere nearby but relatively tranquil; somewhere from which to appreciate nature, it’s looks, smells and sounds and the open air, and to have opportunities to further their knowledge and experience of nature and it’s conservation through the seasons.
Birkenshaw Village Association

Voluntary group who raise funds for the good of the village community. Having two major activities i.e. Summer Fayre and Christmas fayre. Also provide Christmas lights on the main road lampposts, for enjoyment.
Birkenshaw Village in Bloom

Our main objective is to keep Birkenshaw looking welcoming and attractive. We aim to do appropriate weeding and planting of open spaces and we pick litter around these areas every week. We are also keen to lower CO2 emissions and promote carbon capture

We have secured funding to develop green career aspirations for the young people within our care. Many students live in the Kirklees area.
We aim to build an allotment, wildlife area and outdoor classroom for use in the school community.
