Project: Little Bloomers Community Veg Patch

Green Space Location: Entrance to Mirfield Heritage Site/Graveyard, Church Lane, Mirfield, WF14 9HX

Volunteers Involved: 32 Children & 6 Adults | Expected Hours: 180

Detail: Raised Bed, Seeds, Plugs & Stakes

Description

Mirfield in Bloom’s youngest members are the under-fives who attend Church House Pre-School. Many small children will not eat fruit and veg. The plan is to make a raised bed near to the school at the entrance to Mirfield Graveyard/ Heritage site at St Mary’s Church. The footfall past this is phenomenal. The Little Bloomers will plant, water and grow fruit and veg for the public to pick as they pass. It will encourage them to eat the produce themselves.
