(Our objectives are many – regarding platforms) create a welcoming space for rail users and a community gateway, showcasing nature walks and trails, local biodiversity, and green spaces. Ensure the platforms at stations in Kirklees are alive with planting and where possible create community garden spaces. Through Platforms for Change support Scout groups to learn about biodiversity and sustainability (we are partnering with River Holme Connections in 2025) Ensure we have spaces on the platforms to encourage insects and bees with planting and bug hotels etc. Work towards all Kirklees stations being adopted by community groups for wellbeing and create attractive safe spaces.

Red House Yorkshire Heritage Trust

Red House Yorkshire Heritage Trust is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation Registered Charity N. 1193941. We are working towards delivering education and heritage for the Red House site (former museum), 281 Oxford Road, Gomersal, West Yorkshire BD19 4JP. We are working with Kirklees Museums and Galleries service for the benefit of the local and wider community. The heritage covers the history of Mary Taylor and the Taylor family, connections with Charlotte Bronte and her book ‘Shirley’, Luddite history and textile manufacturing history. We hope to work on the award winning garden and bring it back to use.

We are passionate about making the River Holme a better place for people and wildlife. With the help of dedicated volunteers, we work to improve biodiversity, tackle invasive non-native species, clean up green spaces, educate people about the importance of river ecosystems and improve recreational opportunities for the whole community. We work with people and groups from across allsectors of society to help improve our local rivers and green spaces.

The Great Outdoors Project offers adults in Kirklees the chance to take their first steps into nature on our taster courses; to explore their relationship with the outdoors on mindful walks and through the direct experience of open spaces; to interact and contribute on practical tasks at our Community Allotment; to express themselves creatively using eco-crafts, natural art, and photography and to be active and enjoy themselves by walking and running in the biggest gym possible.
