2022 Small Grant Scheme Awards

As we exit the Covid19 lockdowns, our member group volunteers have recommenced the excellent work they undertake in the parks and other green spaces within Kirklees.

Natural Kirklees, supported by Kirklees Council, offered our members the opportunity to bid for a small grant to help them with their ambitions for 2022. The scheme closed at the end of April and we were able to make awards to 9 successful groups plus a sum for the eradication of Japanese Knotweed.

The application form asked each member to identify what they were trying to achieve, what they wanted to purchase and also the benefits this would bring over four headings: 

• 1. What benefit will the project bring to the park or green space?

• 2. What benefit will the project bring in terms of Community Cohesion?

• 3. What benefit will the project bring in terms of Wellbeing?

• 4. What benefit will the project bring in terms of Carbon Reduction / Biodiversity Net Gain?

The Natural Kirklees trustees visit all the sites before, during or after the project is complete, to then be able to publicise the great work the volunteers achieve.
